MADE SLOWLY,
/ ON PURPOSE
Every batch is made the way we used to shop for every lotion, lipstick, or perfume: slowly, carefully, with attention to how it feels and not just how it looks.
"Two Names, One Meaning, Softness Inherited"
Black Velvet Society was born in the aisles of stores neither of us wanted to leave. The two of us, comparing scents, reading ingredient labels out loud, debating which lotion deserved a spot in the basket. It was born in the quiet ritual of it all: a lit candle, warm lotion in the palm, the kind of stillness that only comes from doing something soft and unhurried with someone you love.
It wasn't really about the products. It was about time. About showing care for ourselves the same way we showed care for each other.
We exist because her name was Black, and mine carries the same meaning — and a name like that deserves to live on as more than a memory. It deserves to be felt, held, and rubbed into skin the way she taught me: slowly, with intention, like it matters.
WELCOME TO BLACK VELVET SOCIETY

The name carries her with it. Black was my mother's last name. Hers to carry, and hers to pass down to me in my own name, Ebony. The meaning circles back to the same place: black, deep, rich and unmistakably ours.
It was born, too, in a little girl sneaking into her mother's bathroom — opening jars and bottles just to explore them, dabbing a little of this, a little of that, taking a moment to be her. To smell like her. To look like her. Long before I understood what self-care meant, I understood that it looked like my mother, and I wanted to be close to that.
Two names, one meaning, one woman who gave it to me twice.
At Black Velvet Society, we believe your routine should feel like a sacred pause. Your routine is an invitation to slow down. With every touch, every scent, every velvet-soft finish, you are turning ordinary moments into unhurried luxury that nourishes your skin and restores your sense of self.
Light a candle. Play music. Set aside a few unhurried minutes and let the ritual begin.
Let the steam open your pores. Warm the scrub in your palm. Work it into your skin slowly, with intention for 1-2 minutes, like it matters.
Rinse, breathe, and stay in the stillness a little longer. This moment is yours.
Softness is inheritance", make the font a bit smaller, and add: "Black Velvet Society isn't a new idea. It's a continuation. The same conversation my mother and I were having about skin, about softness, about taking a moment for yourself in a world that rarely offers you one. We talked about it for years. Now I'm making it something you can hold in your hands.
